Wednesday Wonder
weekly words to contemplate
Wednesday Wonder – November 29, 2023
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. But … we have to wait. No matter where you turn, it seems, Christmas has arrived. The decorations are up everywhere, carols are blaring through the mall speakers and have been since early November, invitations are out for...
Wednesday Wonder – November 22, 2023
Having just returned from a two week vacation, I am contemplating the whole idea of taking time off from work. We all look forward to vacation time. We plan a trip, or we plan a list of things to do while staying home. Or maybe, we even plan nothing and stay home...

Acknowledging the Territory
As Christian people within the United Church of Canada, we acknowledge that the earth belongs to God and everything upon it and within it.
As we gather to worship God, we acknowledge that we meet on the treaty and traditional lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island. These lands are covered under the Williams Treaties, they are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, and remain home to a number of Indigenous nations and people.
We commit to the responsibility of reconciliation and the work of increasing awareness and understanding of our shared history. May we continue to live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with its peoples.
