Some days…

Some days, I sit in front of my laptop and stare at the blank screen wondering what to write.

Some days, I sit in front of my laptop and have too many ideas running around in my head to focus on just one.

Some days, I sit in front of my laptop and simply start writing and the words flow out in no time.

Some days, we all encounter things like this. Days unfold in their own ways no matter what we hope might happen. We have lots of energy, or none at all. We have lots to do, or too much to do, or not enough to do. We have a smile on our face, or we do not. Every day is different. Every day is also a chance to start again.

Some days start slowly, others fly by. Some days have great weather, others do not. Some days feel productive, others do not. Some days we just want to burrow back into our beds, others we jump out ready to face the world.

The reality of life is that there are ups and downs. There are joys and challenges. In Bible study we hear Paul telling the new churches to be aware of how quickly we can fall back into old habits. He also warns that some people are pretty slick at telling lies that sound darn good, but pull us away from our relationship with God and Christ.

Some days, we are more likely to fall for the temptations of the easier road. And let’s face it, being a follower of the way of Christ is not always the easier road in the face of all the pressures of society. These days we are not always even sure what is true and what is one of those slick lies.

There is a lot of talk about AI these days. It is an amazing thing. I have even seen it write a reasonably good sermon. Not mine, honest! But it can also be used for less, shall we say, savoury activities. How do we know what is real and what is not any more?

Some days it seems easier than others to see and find the truth. How do we stay focused? We look to the one who showed us the way. We listen to the words of Christ, of the apostles and prophets, of those entrusted with the gospel message. We go ‘old school’ and turn to the stories and lessons learned between the covers of THE Book. We don’t always understand them, but then we gather with others who are trying to walk the same way to share what we have come to understand.

Some days the truth seems so simple. Some days it does not. If we continue to walk together it gets easier. And that is the great truth. We never walk alone. We have one another and we have the Creator, Christ and Spirit with us always.

Some days we feel alone.

Every day we are not alone. We live in God’s world with God and God’s people.

Thanks be to God. Amen.

Peace,
