Wednesday Wonder

September 2, 2026

September has arrived!

The ‘other’ new year. That is how September has always felt. It is a time to begin again as everyone gets into their fall routines. It felt more like a new year when I had a child in school and September signalled the start of school.

It is a time to begin again if you have been away from your usual work and what not over the summer months. It is a time to restart routines, or recreate routines as the case may be.

During the summer several people sent me pictures with Flat Jesus that brought a smile to my face, sometimes even a full on guffaw. Thank you for those. They were also all inspirational and that will be reflected in some of the Wednesday Wonders this fall.

Flat Jesus was seen going to PEI and taking a look around the Maritimes. Yes, he even went to a winery. He wanted to learn about how they turned grapes into wine. Not nearly as impressive as starting with water.

He was seen teaching grandchildren to walk on water, helping with drying the dishes, enjoying feeding the sheep and the goats, helping deliver snacks, helping make pickles, staying up for moon rise, loving all God’s creatures, even the stinky ones, and various other activities. He was even seen hiding in plant pots at times.

He almost drowned in a friend’s pool when my grandson thought he should come swimming with him. My grandson had his water wings on. Flat Jesus did not!

The best part of the pictures and stories with them was seeing what was happening in people’s lives over the summer and where we remembered to intentionally include Jesus. Full confession: I forgot him on several of my outings on the Island.

Whether we remembered to bring along our representation of Jesus or not, he was there in everything we all did this summer. He continues to be with us now. Every wonder of the summer, every routine of the fall, there he is.

As we all begin again this fall, be it new or usual routines, Jesus is there. Share the spark of the divine within you wherever you are. And there he will be.

Welcome back! Things are ramping up here at Kingsview, new and established. Come find your place with Jesus and all of God’s people in this place.

Peace,
Rev. Mary-Jane
