It’s time to celebrate. 100 Wednesday Wonders written and read!

Yes, we have reached the milestone of 100 times I have shared thoughts about anything and everything with you.

I started this little experiment in September 2023 when I was newly arrived at Kingsview and wanting to find a way to connect with everyone. Since then, we have travelled together through many months, many ups and downs and unexpected adventures, for all of us. Thank you for taking the journey with me.

When I began, I expected to maybe do this for six months. Then everyone would lose interest and we would find a different way to connect. Well… here we are nearly three years later, still enjoying whatever the Spirit provides us in this space.

I never imagined this would continue and that all of you would continue to email and share comments with me every week. It would seem, our lives intersect often in the ordinary and extraordinary. What you read here sparks memories, stories or thoughts. Thank you for sharing with me how my offerings inspired you.

Speaking of inspiration, I am in need of some more. After 100 of these columns my ideas feel like they are running a bit thin. So, I am hoping that you can assist me.

I am going to take a break from Wednesday Wonder over the summer and as I go about my holidays and the slightly quieter time around the church that summer brings, I will watch for inspiration. There is, of course, wonder all around us all the time. Sometimes we need to slow down to see it. Sometimes we need to step away from the ordinary, everyday routines to find it. That is my plan for the summer.

I am inviting you to do the same with your summer. And, I am offering up a request for you to send me inspiration for the next 100 Wednesday Wonders beginning in September. To that end, you will find at the bottom a picture of something that brought me wonder this week.

I had thought my orchid would never bloom again. I kept watering it on the appropriate schedule, but in the past it has never mattered once the first blooms were gone, no others ever arrived. Well, I noticed this time they have. You will also notice that Jesus is helping us see this wonder.

Years ago, there was a time when ‘Flat Jesus’ was a big thing. I am bringing him back. My Flat Jesus is in my orchid picture. There is a template of one next to it for you to use if you like. If you have children or grandchildren they may really enjoy including him in their summer activity pictures. If they do, please share. If you just want to send a picture or story without Flat Jesus that is okay too.

What I am hoping, is that we will all be intentional about looking for the wonder around us this summer. God has created a most amazing world and we get to live in it. It is full of wonder, colour, people, places and so much more. This summer, what is inspiring you? What is filling you with wonder? I want to hear about it. I want to share in your wonder. And maybe it will give me something to share with everyone else come fall.

No one has to do this. My hope is that some of you will share. It will make my summer a little more fun, and hopefully yours too.
