Wednesday Wonder

New Year’s Eve!

Hard to believe another year has come to an end. There was so much I wanted to do. I am sure you feel the same. The start of each year has us thinking of all the possibilities. The end of the year has us thinking about all that we didn’t do.

Let’s turn that around this year. Think of all the things you did accomplish. There are probably more than you thought. I just did a quick review of my 25 in ’25 and was surprised by what I actually did. I did not cross off all 25 items, but I crossed off more than expected and made good inroads on many others.

I have started my 26 in ’26 list. Yes, some of the things from this year’s 25 are back. But worded differently because they were not quite complete. But, for the most part, they are new. I have some new ideas and new things I want to try. You will probably get to hear about how they are going during the Wednesdays of 2026.

Looking toward the new year, I do have one small worry. Everything I dubbed a 2026 problem, is now just a problem. They will have to be tackled, whether I like it or not. That’s okay. By delaying them, I have started to come up with ways to address them so I don’t feel quite so overwhelmed.

Once again, standing on the threshold of a new year, I feel all the glorious possibilities stretching before me. One of the big things about 2026 in our family is the celebration of ‘special’ birthdays. This is a unique year for our family. My son turns 30. I double him at 60. And my father triples him at 90. There are going to be some great parties to look forward to during the year.

There are also all the possibilities in the life of Kingsview and its members. Each of you are going to have things happen this year that you planned, and that you didn’t. The most amazing part, you have a church family to support no matter what comes. We laugh and cry together and we know we are not alone.

Take a moment to savour the in between. The time between it is finished and it has begun. Take a deep breath. We have no idea what truly awaits after midnight. But it is going to be…

Last week we celebrated God-with-us. That same God-with-us is still here and ready to walk without into 2026.

Happy New Year!

Peace,
Rev. Mary-Jane
