Wednesday Wonder
weekly words to contemplate
Wednesday Wonder – April 16, 2025
It is the Wednesday of Holy Week. We are inching ever nearer to Good Friday. We are yet so far from Easter morning. Holy Week gives us an opportunity to think about how the followers of Jesus might have been feeling. Not every Gospel tells the story of Palm Sunday to...
Wednesday Wonder – April 9, 2025
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and, wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14a) It’s my birthday. And this partial verse from Psalm 139 often pops into my head on that day. It truly is amazing that we exist. Amazing that we are created in the way we are. We have a body that...

Acknowledging the Territory
As Christian people within the United Church of Canada, we acknowledge that the earth belongs to God and everything upon it and within it.
As we gather to worship God, we acknowledge that we meet on the treaty and traditional lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island. These lands are covered under the Williams Treaties, they are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, and remain home to a number of Indigenous nations and people.
We commit to the responsibility of reconciliation and the work of increasing awareness and understanding of our shared history. May we continue to live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with its peoples.
