Affirming Journey
Our Mission & Vision
Our hearts are always open to new people
Our purpose is to show God’s love as revealed in Jesus Christ. We will endeavour to accomplish this as we: worship, celebrate, teach and nurture within a caring family of faith; share ourselves, resources and facilities with our local community; work together with the global community for the well being of all creation.
We are called to be the Church on Earth where all are welcome. “We are not alone. We live in God’s world.” We embrace all people including but not limited to persons of any age, race, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic circumstances, physical or mental ability, all working together in full participation in the life and work of God’s ministry. We gather as an Affirming community based on inclusion and removing labels that segregate us from one another. We strive to build a church based on the ideals of equality, equity and justice for all people and to put these ideals into action in the life and work of our community of faith. We, like Jesus, see whole people, acknowledging that we are the sum of many parts. With our voices raised in praise, we celebrate the uniqueness of each individual and the perfect harmony we make together, all to God’s glory.
Creation. Redemption. Restoration.

Acknowledging the Territory
As Christian people within the United Church of Canada, we acknowledge that the earth belongs to God and everything upon it and within it.
As we gather to worship God, we acknowledge that we meet on the treaty and traditional lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island. These lands are covered under the Williams Treaties, they are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, and remain home to a number of Indigenous nations and people.
We commit to the responsibility of reconciliation and the work of increasing awareness and understanding of our shared history. May we continue to live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with its peoples.
